Human Induced Regeneration (HIR)
Human Induced Regeneration (HIR) is one of a number of approved carbon removal or sequestration methodologies that drawdown carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it in vegetation. Approved under the Australian federal government’s Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) and overseen by the Clean Energy Regulator (CER), HIR projects involve regenerating native forests by changing land management practices. Projects that are delivered using this method are designed to be carried out on areas where vegetation is being impacted by grazing, clearing and other activities.
Forever Wild
Narndee is central to Forever Wild's low-impact agriculture program. At Forever Wild, they focus on creating balance between people and nature, to create very long-term outcomes where nature can be protected alongside livelihoods and sustainable economics. This work is urgent and essential if we are to effectively compete with destructive and exploitative economic practices, and move towards restorative economics where decisions revolve around nature and our cultural heritage.

See the time-lapse of Narndee over the past 6 years. The satellite imagery used has Everclime's NDVI overlay, which shows the change in vegetation over time, with more green signifying higher vegetation index at the site. This visual representation highlights the positive impact of the Human Induced Regeneration methodology on restoring and enhancing native forest ecosystems while contributing to carbon sequestration.
BeImpact
This project is the first of its kind with a digitally traced carbon co-benefit backed by a formal methodology and framework. By linking global 'upstream' targets designed by the UN SDGs & Global Biodiversity Framework, 'downstream' actions that contributions are measurable by organisations. The Narndee HIR Project is located in the shire of Mount Magnet which is about 6 hours by car from Perth. The station stretches over 223,101 Hectares.
