Canopy Blue Kelp Reforestation

Canopy Blue Kelp Reforestation

Mission
Restoring Oceans, Capturing Carbon
Canopy Blue is pioneering large scale offshore seaweed cultivation to fight climate change and regenerate marine ecosystems. Their mission is to restore lost kelp forests, beginning off Western Australia, through science-led methods and close collaboration with Indigenous communities. By cultivating native seaweeds they capture carbon, reduce ocean acidification, and create vital marine habitats. At the same time, they transform seaweed into sustainable products for food, health, energy, and agriculture, generating long term social and economic benefits. Canopy Blue positions kelp reforestation as a powerful nature based solution that supports both people and planet.

Project Story

Canopy Blue

Canopy Blue has partnered with The University of Western Australia on a mission to restore over 100,000 Ha of lost kelp forest.
The project aims to unlock Kelp Reforestation globally as a nature based solution to combat climate change. Canopy Blue’s kelp credits are a funding mechanism to support the ongoing development and maintenance of the project. It also enables businesses to support a local project that's beneficial to WA’s coastal environment.
