Our Beginning
In 2013, a small group of passionate wildlife carers saw the need for a wildlife group that would care for injured, sick or orphaned native animals with the Canberra region. The group approached the ACT Government with a proposal to set up ACT Wildlife Inc., which contained approximately 20 individuals who were already caring for mainly birds and possums, but also a smaller number of lizards, with the odd wombat, micro bat and fruit bats. The ACT Government accept the proposal and the organisation was registered as a Non-for-profit charity.
Our Purpose
The purpose of ACT Wildlife is to:
- Rescue, rehabilitate and release injured, sick and orphaned native wildlife
- Educate the public about sharing the urban interface with native wildlife
- Provide professional training to ensure a high standard of welfare for animals in care

Animal Enclosures
With the limited number of enclosures we are struggling to accommodate the increasing number of animals in their care. Limited space prevents us from taking in more animals in need, hindering our ability to rescue and rehome. Additional enclosures would allow them to expand their capacity, providing safe and comfortable environments for more animals until they find their forever homes.
