Forever Reef

Great Barrier Reef Legacy is a non-profit, created to address the urgent need to secure the long-term survival of the Great Barrier Reef and coral reefs world-wide.

We deliver groundbreaking projects, such as the Forever Reef, along with innovative research and inspiring educational content to engage the public, support science and accelerate actions vital to the preservation of coral reefs

Forever Reef

The Forever Reef Project will preserve coral biodiversity for generations to come. It’s a groundbreaking initiative to collect living specimens of the world’s coral species and preserve them in a living 'coral ark’. We can protect coral biodiversity forever, but our window of opportunity is rapidly closing and we can’t keep doing this alone. We need you.
Forever Reef

Built on over 35 years of expedition, tourism, multimedia and research experience on the Great Barrier Reef, our team has extensive knowledge of the reef, and is comprised of dedicated and skilled volunteers with an unwavering commitment to protecting our reefs. GBR Legacy is working closely with Traditional Owners, Scientists, public and private aquariums and the coral collecting industry to to deliver this project with a degree of confidence in success.

SDG Goals

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 interconnected goals established by the United Nations in 2015. The SDGs provide a comprehensive framework for addressing the world's most pressing economic, social, and environmental challenges.

Global impact groups play a crucial role in supporting the SDGs by creating mechanisms to mobilise resources, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive collective action toward achieving the goals. These groups have the capacity to leverage their expertise and resources to make a significant positive impact.
